Ladurée: from Confectionery to Cosmetics

Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée

You might remember several posts ago I posted about the esteemed macaron maker in Paris, Ladurée. Well, they are set to launch their cosmetics collection.

Following the success of its beauty line launched in 2007, the range including creams, home fragrances and candles. The face and body creams were made using almonds, a vital ingredient in macaroons.

The new make-up range called Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée or The Wonders of Ladurée.

Created by Japanese make-up manufacturer Albion, the collection will feature liquid foundation, lip colour, as well as 20 different blush colours in the form of cameos, inspired by the pastel shades of Ladurée’s macaroons.

The packaging for Ladurée macarons is divine but the packaging of their cosmetics, however, is c'est magnifique!

I'm seeing a lot of 1950's inspired, structured make up - defined liner with crisp matte red lips. The smokey eye is a perennial favourite, generally with a nude or light lip, but it isn't unheard of this season to pair a heay eye with an equally heavy lip in defiance of the eyes or lip rule of thumb.

There are natural looks too with pretty, ladylike cheeks, luminous and fresh, teamed with a 50's eye, smudged and toned down.

Lashes, particularly classical strip lashes, are a big hit this season, heading for a nod to the early 60's.

La Vie En Rose - Pink Decorating Ideas

Adore the soft pink walls with the clean white trim.

Aqua highlights the richness of this pink.

I'd never get out of the bath if I lived here.

Liking the soft pink with the beige and chocolate.

The "dirty" pink of this wall is the perfect vintage look to compliment the iron work dresser.

The rose wall makes this large room cosy.

An ornate mirror to offset the clean lines of the sink.

They say that pink is a colour that lifts the spirits and I have to agree. Every time I look at soft pink rooms I feel as if nothing bad could ever happen in them.

Dita Von Tease Fragrance - Gorgeous Packaging Alert!

The packaging is a glamorous nod to the 1930’s burlesque aesthetic.

"The complete presentation of the dita von teese signature scent was developed by atelier Christian Von der Heide. The flacon was designed as a tribute to the golden age of the art of burlesque, which dita von teese stands for more than any other artist in the world.

The glossy black, grooved flacon comes in two sizes: a large, luxurious stand-up version with a silk-covered atomizer, and a smaller amphora “pour le sac” – the perfect accessory for a glamorous woman.

A long silk tassel adorns each bottle as the identifying feature of the style icon dita von teese.
the heraldry on the packaging plays with the attributes of a burlesque dancer – the corset, the legendary martini glass and the evening gloves, crowned by a fan of ostrich feathers."

Seascape Island Apothecary - So Pretty!

I love that this brand can look pretty and fresh reflecting the ISLAND, SEA and NATURAL element of the product without that hippy, green, eco or cottage industry look and feel that many other natural bath and body brands adopt.

Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo Campaign

The new fragrance Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo consists of a beautiful ballet pink blush palette, which I just had to share with you. The campaign was photographed by Mikael Jansson featuring model Bianca Balti as the signorina. The scent itself has "bright fizzy notes of currant spiced by fresh pink pepper" and overall scent is floral, smelling of jasmine, peony and rose, but the perfume also includes a hint of pannacotta (yummy).

The packaging is ultra feminine too in the shape of a jewellery box with a sweet gros grain ribbon bow.

Saw this lovely packaging and wanted to share it. Love the bold pink, green and bare light wood.

New camera - expect to see more photos

This is a close up of my dining table centrepiece

Close up of a pink orchid given to me by dear friends.
Close up of a white orchid.
My philosophy in taking these types of photos is to get inside the mind of the photo. To show only the absolute essence of a thing, rather than a literal interpretation of an object or person. I like to leave some aspects to the imagination, and to leave the view thinking, pondering or seeing something that they might not have seen in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 Campaign

Fashion photographer David Sims has created this heavenly Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 campaign,  which stars model Zuzanna Bijoch.

Milk-white skin complements the powder pink and blood-red designs with a luminous background to show off her stunning looks. The garments break through the misty feel, making colour the hero.
